This role involves providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in an oncology setting, performing various duties to support patient treatment and well-being. The Certified Nursing Assistant ensures patient comfort and safety, assists with daily living activities, monitors vital signs, and collaborates with the healthcare team to promote positive outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to patients in accordance with their individualized care plans
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, oral care, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Assist in transportation and transfer of patients, ensuring comfort and safety during movement
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake and output, and other patient data, reporting any abnormalities or concerns to nursing team
- Complete Accuchecks as directed
- Accurately and promptly document patient care
- Assist with patient hygiene and comfort measures, including turning and repositioning patients to prevent pressure ulcers
- Support patients with feeding and hydration needs, adhering to dietary restrictions and assisting with mealtime activities
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and promote positive patient outcomes
- Complete hourly rounds to assigned patients and anticipate patient needs, responding promptly to call lights and patient requests
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families, demonstrating empathy and compassion
- Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, including changing bed linens, stocking supplies, and ensuring cleanliness of patient rooms
- Adhere to infection control protocols and hospital policies and procedures to maintain a safe and sanitary environment
- Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge in patient care and hospital procedures
Requirements
- Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in DE
- BLS – Basic Life Saving Certification
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma preferred OR current high school student with CNA license
