This Clinic Nurse role provides high-quality, patient-centered care and support to patients living with or at risk for HIV. The role involves collaborating with an interdisciplinary health care team to address medical and social needs within a clinic setting, focusing on strong clinical skills and attention to detail for a diverse patient population.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and assessment of current symptoms or concerns
- Administer medications and injections as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring accuracy and safety
- Assist with procedures such as phlebotomy, suture removal, and wound care
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR), documenting assessments, history, interventions, and patient interactions
- Provide education to patients on their health conditions, medications, and self-care management
- Triage and prioritize patient needs, ensuring timely access to care and appropriate referrals
- Process patient referrals for specialty care and follow-up
- Collaborate with medical providers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Assist in planning, managing and coordinating patient flow and day-to-day operations of the clinic
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and implement evidence-based practices
- Participate in research projects and continuing education activities
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid state license
- Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Effective organizational skills
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant technology
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally
Qualifications
- Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in an outpatient clinic setting
Nice to Have
- Experience working in HIV/AIDS care
- HIV experience in a not-for-profit environment
