About This Role

Oversee and optimize claims department operations, leading strategic oversight of claim settlements and developing a team of claims professionals. This role involves analyzing claims data, establishing reserves, and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and service quality.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Claims department operations, optimizing workflows and ensuring high productivity
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the Claims department to align with business goals and objectives
  • Lead the strategic oversight of claims settlements to confirm coverage and determine liability, compensability, and damages
  • Advise team members on claim file management including settlement and reserving strategies
  • Analyze claims data to identify trends, assess performance, and provide regular reports to senior management
  • Establish reserves and provide insights or reports to Corporate Claims or senior management
  • Lead and mentor claims professionals, ensuring they achieve excellence in their roles
  • Serve as a resource on insurance policy and claims handling procedures
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and service quality
  • Perform performance and coaching of staff and make decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in property and casualty claims handling
  • Minimum of 3 years leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in property and casualty claims handling, including a minimum of 3 years leadership experience

Nice to Have

  • Completion of or continuing progress toward a professional designation such as AIC or CPCU
