About This Role

The City Manager plans, organizes, and provides administrative direction and oversight for all City functions and activities, including policy guidance and program evaluation to the City Council. This role manages and mentors staff, fosters cooperative relationships with agencies and groups, and pursues economic and community development.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and provide administrative direction and oversight for all City functions and activities
  • Provide policy guidance and program evaluation to the City Council
  • Manage and mentor staff
  • Encourage and facilitate provision of services to City residents and businesses
  • Foster cooperative working relationships with intergovernmental and regulatory agencies and various public and private groups
  • Pursue appropriate avenues of economic and community development
  • Attend community events and engage with residents
  • Work with city council, staff, and key stakeholders to achieve economic growth and improve quality of life for a diverse community
  • Lead by setting a positive example of being proactive and organized; provide clear and consistent direction
  • Assess talent, mentor, and develop a team-oriented, high-performing and accountable working environment

Requirements

  • Visionary, strategic, stable, and high-energy leader
  • Well-rounded skills in all facets of public sector governance
  • Proven track record in successful community development
  • Solid financial acumen
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work positively and effectively with staff and promote positive morale and team building
  • Innovative problem solver with a background working with various populations
  • Solid experience in municipal finance, administration, and community & economic development

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in successful community development and solid financial acumen. Solid experience in municipal finance, administration, and community & economic development. Past experience working in a contract city and negotiating contracts and services is helpful.
