About This Role

The Childcare Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks to children at Skipwith Academy, ensuring all dietary and health standards are met. This role involves menu planning, food preparation, and maintaining food safety.

Responsibilities

• Develop weekly menus that are nutritious, balanced, and appealing to children
• Prepare and cook meals and snacks according to the planned menu
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations
• Keep track of food supplies and place orders as needed
• Manage the kitchen budget effectively
• Maintain accurate records of food purchases, meal counts, and any dietary restrictions or allergies
• Ensure portion control and dietary needs are met during serving
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience as a cook, preferably in a childcare or educational setting
• Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for children
• Ability to plan and prepare meals for large groups
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to pass a successful background check

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience as a cook, preferably in a childcare or educational setting.
