This role is responsible for planning and conducting activities with children in the Child Care Center, focusing on various subjects like music, science, and literature. The assistant teacher will also supervise children in their daily activities and foster social interaction and creative expression.
Responsibilities
- Plan and carry out a variety of activities as an assistant teacher with children enrolled in the Child Care Center
- Provide group art and gym activities
- Supervise children in daily activities
- Provide large and small muscle development activities
- Encourage social interaction and creative expression
- Provide intellectual stimulation
- Participate in appropriate meetings and professional development activities
Requirements
- One semester of technical training or specialized courses
- Six months to one-year recent relevant occupational experience
- Child & infant First-aid and CPR certification
- DCF approved abusive head trauma training
- Biennial child abuse and neglect training
- Registry certificate
Qualifications
- One semester of technical training or specialized courses in Early Childhood Education with a one-year technical diploma preferred
- Six months to one-year recent relevant occupational experience required, experience in a nursery or childcare setting is beneficial
