Predict, evaluate, and analyze strength and durability by using analytical and CAE methods, conducting bench tests, and analyzing data. Solve problems to meet performance targets for vehicle development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strength and durability performance of vehicle frame, body, and chassis (suspension, axle, bushing) through prediction, evaluation, and analysis
  • Predict using analytical (hand calculation, design review) and CAE (FEA, MBD, other simulations) methods
  • Evaluate by performing vehicle input load measurements and bench tests (static and fatigue), collaborating with technician team members
  • Analyze by organizing and visualizing data to extract trends, calculating fatigue life, and conducting failure analysis
  • Solve problems and develop countermeasures to achieve strength and durability performance targets according to vehicle development schedule

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • 2 years’ experience working as an engineer
  • Completed academic coursework in solid mechanics engineering (strength of materials, stress/strain/deflection, static and fatigue failure theories, structures and joining, vibrations) and system dynamics
  • Experience with engineering experimentation (planning, measurements, statistical analysis, reporting)
  • Experience with commercial FEA pre-processors, solvers, and post-processors
