About This Role

As a Certified Prosthetist Orthotist in Boise, ID, you will evaluate, fabricate, and custom fit artificial limbs and orthopedic braces. This role involves direct patient care, collaboration with physicians, and supervision of assistants to advance patient well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Examine, interview, and measure patients to determine appliance needs and identify factors affecting fit
  • Fit, test, and evaluate devices on patients, making adjustments for proper fit, function, and comfort
  • Instruct patients in the use and care of orthoses and prostheses
  • Design orthopedic and prosthetic devices based on physicians' prescriptions and patient assessments
  • Maintain patients' records in accordance with ABC and CMS standards
  • Make and modify plaster casts for device construction
  • Select materials and components based on device design
  • Confer with physicians to formulate specifications and prescriptions for devices
  • Repair, rebuild, and modify prosthetic and orthopedic appliances
  • Construct and fabricate appliances, or supervise construction
  • Train and supervise orthopedic and prosthetic assistants and technicians
  • Update skills and knowledge by attending conferences and seminars
  • Show and explain orthopedic and prosthetic appliances to healthcare workers
  • Maintain inventory of material in main and satellite locations

Requirements

  • Currently licensed and/or certified and in good standing by ABC or BOC
  • Ability to maintain CME's annually in accordance with ABC and BOC guidelines
  • Ability to practice within scope of work
  • Adherence to Pacific Medical Inc. employee handbook guidelines
  • Competency in HIPAA compliance, sexual harassment training, and universal precautions training
  • Additional state licensing if required
