Provide therapeutic radiological physics services to the Oncology Service Line, ensuring the safe and accurate delivery of therapeutic radiation doses and maintaining regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Provide therapeutic radiological physics services to the Oncology Service Line
- Perform and participate in the development of procedures for the initial and continuing evaluation of all patients receiving therapeutic doses of radiation
- Consult with practitioners and/or allied health personnel for treatment planning and dose delivery strategies
- Perform measurements to confirm regulatory and task group compliance of radiation producing and treatment planning equipment
- Perform and document all aspects of brachytherapy including: source calibration, treatment planning and treatment delivery
- Perform acceptance testing, evaluation and commissioning of equipment used for external-beam therapy, brachytherapy, simulation, treatment-planning, and radiation detection
- Approve radiation oncology technical procedures prior to clinical use
- Participate in a comprehensive quality management program that monitors, evaluates, and optimizes radiation oncology processes
- Direct the radiation oncology physics program to include the technical direction of staff
- Provide consultation on patient or personnel radiation dose and associated risks
Requirements
- Master of Science in Medical Physics or related discipline
- Certified in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology
- 2+ years consistent with American Board of Radiology Board eligibility
