About This Role

The Cardiology Technician Assistant provides essential support to veterinarians and technicians in a veterinary cardiology specialty setting. This role involves direct patient care, technical assistance, and administrative duties to ensure quality care and exceptional client service for pet owners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate care to all patients, greeting them and their owners upon arrival
  • Triage patients, perform physical exams, treatments, and administer medication as directed by licensed veterinary technicians (LVT's)
  • Calm and soothe anxious patients
  • Assist doctors and technicians with medication administration and patient restraint
  • Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs
  • Operate and maintain hospital equipment, including EKG, fluid pumps, and anesthetic machines
  • Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications, and maintain controlled drug documentation
  • Feed patients as prescribed and report unusual conditions or abnormal behaviors
  • Communicate positively with clients and educate them about insurance, wellness, and medicinal plans
  • Maintain cleanliness of the hospital, equipment, kennels, and facilities, using chemicals safely
  • Bathe and care for patients staying overnight, ensuring they are clean and groomed before release
  • Adhere to hospital safety and wellness regulations and maintain accurate medical records
  • Promote hospital products and services and respond respectfully to DVM and LVT directions
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, potentially in specialty areas like cardiology

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One or more years' experience in a veterinary environment
  • Ability to successfully perform duties of this position
