This role involves coordinating birth tissue recovery initiatives in hospitals and birthing centers. The coordinator will obtain authorization from new mothers to recover donated placenta, educate them on the donation process, and perform the recovery using proper aseptic techniques.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with hospitals and birthing centers for onsite birth tissue recovery initiatives
- Travel to assigned facilities to provide recovery and education support
- Initiate donation discussions with new mothers for placenta donation prior to delivery
- Provide education on birth tissue donation to new mothers
- Coordinate the birth tissue donation process by obtaining informed consent
- Complete Donor Risk Assessment Interview
- Determine suitability for donation
- Acquire donated birth tissue using proper aseptic techniques and personal protective equipment
- Enter timely and accurate medical records into the electronic database
- Collaborate and maintain effective communication with nurses, obstetricians, and other medical personnel
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years tissue banking or related experience OR surgical operating room experience
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written formats
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- Two years tissue banking or related experience or surgical operating room experience.
