About This Role

This Billing Analyst role provides essential support for finance and patient care activities by accurately communicating patient out-of-pocket costs for hospital and physician services. The position involves performing all tasks related to the estimates process and supporting various other duties within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive support for finance and patient care activities
  • Perform all tasks related to the effective and accurate communication of patient out-of-pocket costs for hospital and physician services
  • Perform all tasks related to the estimates process
  • Handle various other support duties within the team
  • Review scheduled service for a patient’s upcoming appointment and select appropriate CPT codes
  • Review insurance section of EPIC to determine self-pay/out-of-network or insurance status
  • Create and deliver estimates via text/email for self-pay/out-of-network patients, ensuring receipt
  • Transfer patient charts to Pre-Registration for insurance verification prior to appointments
  • Respond to customer service calls regarding the estimate process
  • Understand insurance networks and their impact on the estimate process
  • Understand chargemaster and clinical billing pricing structure to explain charges to patients

Requirements

  • High school diploma plus 5 years of relevant experience in a healthcare revenue cycle related or bookkeeping function OR Bachelor’s degree in business or related field with 1 year of applicable experience
  • Computer skills in data entry, charge entry, medical office and/or hospital billing
  • Ability to sit continuously and work on a computer for an 8-hour day
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • 5 years of relevant experience in a healthcare revenue cycle related or bookkeeping function, OR 1 year of applicable experience with a Bachelor's degree.
