About This Role

The Behavioral Health Specialist manages and maintains the safety of individuals and staff within a crisis care facility, providing exceptional customer service and assisting with daily living activities. This role involves de-escalation techniques, documentation, and ensuring a clean environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the safety of individuals and staff within the facility
  • Take vitals and assist individuals with their needs, providing exceptional customer service
  • Document services provided and significant interactions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Conduct security screening and inventory property upon admission, providing orientation to units
  • Educate patients on their rights under ADHS regulations, grievance process, expectations, rules, and regulations
  • Intervene with escalated individuals using therapeutic de-escalation techniques
  • Perform restraints/seclusions when needed to ensure safety, completing Q15 checks on patients in seclusion or mechanical restraints
  • Lift, move, and transport individuals using proper body mechanics or lifting devices
  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living including eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, and transferring
  • Conduct and document individual's vitals, reporting questionable results to RN/Physician
  • Conduct and document all BAL, urine drug screens, and urine pregnancy tests
  • Attend court ordered hearings when subpoenaed and be available to provide testimony
  • Monitor and document patients Q15
  • Maintain and ensure the cleanliness of the facility and designated assigned unit, including light cleaning and laundry

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in behavioral health, social services, or related field
  • Ability to perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or exempt per company policy
  • Arizona Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in behavioral health, social services, or related field

Nice to Have

  • Certified training (Safe Clinch, CPR First Aid, therapeutic options, etc.)
  • Completion of CNA or Patient Care Tech program
  • Two (2) years of experience in behavioral health
  • Completion of BHT certification
