Behavioral Health Care Manager

About This Role

Manage psychiatric and substance abuse treatment health benefits through telephonic or written review for members. The role involves assessing member needs, coordinating care, and evaluating outcomes to ensure medically necessary and quality behavioral healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Manage psychiatric and substance abuse or substance abuse disorder facility-based and outpatient professional treatment health benefits through telephonic or written review
• Use appropriate screening criteria knowledge and clinical judgment to assess member needs
• Ensure access to medically necessary quality behavioral healthcare in a cost-effective setting
• Refer cases to Peer Reviewers as appropriate
• Perform psychiatric and substance abuse or substance abuse disorder assessment coordination implementation case planning monitoring and evaluating
• Promote quality member outcomes to optimize member health benefits
• Promote effective use of health benefits and community resources

Requirements

• MA/MS in social work, counseling, or related behavioral health field, or a degree in nursing
• 3+ years experience with facility-based and/or outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment
• Current active unrestricted Colorado license (RN, LCSW, LMHC, LPC, LMFT, or Clinical Psychologist)

Qualifications

• MA/MS in social work, counseling, or a related behavioral health field or a degree in nursing
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with facility-based and/or outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse or substance abuse disorder treatment

Nice to Have

• Experience in case management/utilization management with complex psychiatric/substance abuse cases
• Experience with substance abuse treatment and ASAM levels of care knowledge
• Experience in-home intensive therapy modalities
• Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
