Bakery Clerk

About This Role

This role is responsible for preparing and baking various bakery goods, maintaining proper inventory levels, and ensuring the cleanliness and appearance of the bakery department. It also involves providing friendly and enthusiastic customer service and fulfilling customer orders.

Responsibilities

• Welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers, maintaining a friendly and enthusiastic customer service atmosphere.
• Produce bakery products for retail stores.
• Operate and clean equipment and work area, ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary bakery department.
• Package all fresh products following all packaging and handling procedures.
• Ensure quality of goods by following code dating procedures and legal regulations for labeling and packaging.
• Mix icing or other toppings, occasionally lifting 50 lbs. bags of sugar, shortening, and flour.
• Ice and personalize cakes with desired words and decorations.
• Display products on shelves in an appealing manner using FIFO for rotation.
• Take special orders by phone and in person from customers, using an airbrush machine, tubes, and tips.
• Produce breads and rolls by mixing recipes, operating machines, and using an oven and proof box.
• Clean the work area using pressure hose, floor brush, squeegee, and wiping all work tables, scales, and utensils.
• Open and close bakery according to company procedures.

Requirements

• Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to push and pull approximately 100 lb. of product on a rack.
• Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to operate kitchen utensils and equipment with manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move rapidly for extended periods of time.
• Ability to bend, stoop, balance, crouch, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, perform repetitive movement, and reach frequently.
• Ability to perform basic math and compute weights and measures.
• Ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures and department policies.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
