Azure Systems Engineer

About This Role

This role involves supporting a major modernization initiative, transitioning on-premise environments to Microsoft Azure. The engineer will focus on upgrading SQL Server and PostgreSQL platforms, modernizing Linux and PHP-based systems, and migrating custom application services to the cloud.

Responsibilities

• Perform Azure landing zone cleanup, including policies, virtual networks, network security groups, logging configuration, and budget controls.
• Implement Azure Blob Storage with CDN to support large-scale file storage needs.
• Complete identity and email modernization tasks, including decommissioning legacy Exchange components and finalizing Entra ID/identity governance tuning.
• Assist with server migrations, transitioning workloads from IaaS-based hosting to PaaS services where appropriate.
• Configure CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with Linux/PHP engineering resources.
• Deploy and configure Azure Backup, Defender for Cloud, Key Vault, and monitoring solutions, ensuring security and resilience across the environment.
• Migrate custom OCR and PDF processing workloads into Azure using Virtual Machines or Container Apps.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure and Azure Stack
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) solutions
• Proficiency in managing Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Entra ID
• Demonstrated ability to conduct server migrations and optimize cloud infrastructure
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline setup and management
• Familiarity with tools like Azure Backup, Defender for Cloud, and Key Vault
• Experience with Linux systems and PostgreSQL database upgrades
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
