About This Role

This role is for an Assistant Vice President and Chief Research Informatics Officer (CRIO) who will lead research informatics strategy and infrastructure at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the University of Pennsylvania. The CRIO will drive the integration of cutting-edge data, technology, and computational biology to advance clinical and translational research and improve child health.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Research Informatics strategy incorporating technology, data science, AI, cloud, high-performance computing, and digital health applications
  • Drive the integration of cutting-edge data, technology, and computational biology to advance clinical and translational research
  • Lead Research Information Services and the enterprise-wide Arcus program, focusing on machine learning, digital archiving, and multimodal analytics
  • Oversee policy, governance, and workflow efficiency, and coordinate institutional initiatives related to research technology
  • Guide investments in cloud computing and high-performance computing for large-scale translational impact
  • Support CHOP’s omics and precision medicine strategies through collaboration with institutional stakeholders
  • Represent CHOP’s vision in national and international bodies advancing informatics and data standards
  • Serve as Principal Investigator for NIH or other grant-funded informatics and data science projects if necessary
  • Develop and maintain positive professional associations with informatics leaders at other institutions
  • Drive research and academic productivity, including peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and student mentorship

Requirements

  • Expertise in informatics, data science, and/or artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare delivery systems and academic medical centers

Qualifications

  • M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree
