The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing (DON) in managing the nursing department, maintaining quality care standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting positive employee relations. This role involves leadership, staff development, and ensuring educational programs within the facility.
Responsibilities
- Assist the DON in managing the nursing department to maintain quality standards of care
- Consult with medical staff, department heads, and Administrator on nursing service matters
- Provide input into interpreting nursing philosophy and help establish departmental goals and objectives
- Assist the Director of Nursing with regulatory compliance
- Ensure effective communication strategies with all levels of nursing staff for effective care delivery
- Promote positive employee relations, strong customer service ethic, and ongoing staff education and training
- Exercise direction over the department in the absence of the Director of Nursing
- Ensure integrity of educational programs offered within the facility
- Staff Development duties
- Identify current employees for personal and career advancement mentorship towards leadership positions
Requirements
- At least 2 years nursing supervisory experience
- Currently licensed as RN in state of practice
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
- At least 2 years nursing supervisory experience required; minimum one year of long-term or acute health care experience preferred.
