Assistant Cook

About This Role

Assist in the preparation of food and beverages for students and maintain kitchen cleanliness. This role involves basic food service duties and sanitation tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and presentation of quality food and beverages for students
• Engage young adults with good customer service skills
• Assist in kitchen clean-up, washing dishes, and sanitizing food preparation areas
• Transport finished meals from preparation area to serving line
• Keep serving counters stocked with prepared food
• Produce quality work/assignments in a thorough, timely, and accurate manner
• Maintain appropriate personal attendance, accountability, and work productivity standards
• Plan, prioritize, and organize assignments to meet established goals and deadlines
• Provide supervision and training to Job Corps Work-Based Learning students
• Accept direction and supervision from the Center Director/Center Duty Officer/Shift Manager

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to obtain ServSafe credentials
• Ability to lift 40 pounds

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Previous experience in food service preferred

Nice to Have

• Previous experience in food service
• Advanced degrees
