Perform production assembly operations and comprehensive system analysis, testing, and performance optimization for medical instruments. Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, or software problems in test equipment to ensure functional performance.
Responsibilities
- Build, integrate, and understand the entire assembly process and requirements for any instrument in the production area
- Perform proficiently on all test instructions for at least one moderately complex instrument, including functional and release testing
- Analyze test results and data to determine pass/fail criteria and provide solutions for failed results
- Provide optimization system performance solutions, including precision of movement and/or light systems, using pass/fail data
- Identify defects and recommend design and process improvements as needed
- Provide expertise in reading/understanding drawings, work instructions, and overall workmanship standards
- Train associates on a broad variety of mechanical and testing activities as needed
- Complete production activities in compliance with regulatory requirements and BD's expectations for Safety and Quality
- Work or interface with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Purchasing as needed
- Perform standard material handling functions for instrument raw materials and sub-assemblies
- Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment through execution of housekeeping responsibilities
Requirements
- AA degree in mechatronics or relevant field OR 5 years’ experience in electrical, mechanical or software troubleshooting
- Demonstrated capability to provide overall support of testing for moderately complex instruments
- Proven leadership skills and ability to mentor, coach, and develop other associates
- Proven ability and accountability to results and to improve performance and processes
- Strong commitment to Continuous Improvement (Lean Manufacturing) philosophies
- Fundamental knowledge of mechanical tools including torque drivers, gauges, bits
- Proficient at reading drawings, interpreting and measuring dimensions, requirements
- Ability to manage time across multiple production orders and processes
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting
- Ability to understand and work within specified Quality procedures
- Proficient in English with ability to read, write, analyze/evaluate charts, follow simple diagrams, perform basic arithmetic
- Basic proficiency with PCs and Windows environment
- Strong math and analytical skills
- Ability to use independent judgment to plan, perform, make decisions, troubleshoot and problem solve
Qualifications
- AA degree in mechatronics or relevant field
- 0 years’ experience with an AA degree or 5 years’ experience in electrical, mechanical or software troubleshooting
