Animal Shelter Attendant

About This Role

This Animal Shelter Attendant provides care for impounded animals, performs euthanasia procedures, assists with medical procedures, and maintains the facility in an orderly condition.

Responsibilities

• Provide proper care of all animals including feeding, watering, cleaning, and exercising
• Clean and disinfect pens, floors, and related kennel areas
• Assist euthanasia procedures on designated animals utilizing Sodium Phenobarbital injections
• Prepare carcasses for disposal
• Assist with receiving animals at the shelter
• Administer medications as needed
• Perform general housekeeping duties to keep facility in an orderly condition
• Escort individuals through kennels and assist with the adoption and transfer of animals
• Provide general office assistance when needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Willing and able to be vaccinated against the Rabies virus at the time of hire

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prefer experience in the care and handling of animals of all sizes; or any equivalent combination of education and experiences which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
