This role isn't a traditional engineering role, it's for someone who digs into problems firsthand, asks why until they truly understand what's broken, then builds the solution themselves.
Responsibilities
- Build solutions that solve real problems in mortgage lending primarily using AI tools like Claude Code and the Claude platform
- Consolidate and deduplicate loan conditions that arrive in different formats from various sources like Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, VA, and FHA
- Identify and automate tasks performed by underwriters that can be streamlined
- Build systems that can adapt to evolving compliance requirements without lengthy development cycles
- Deeply investigate problems, sometimes vague ones, and understand them well enough to build solutions
- Comfortably get hands-on with building software using Claude Code, Python, JavaScript, and APIs
Requirements
- Ability to build working software independently
- Comfortable with Claude Code, Python, JavaScript, APIs
- Ability to go deep on problems and understand underlying decisions/causes
- Persistence in finding solutions
- Strong communication skills across various audiences (executives, loan officers, underwriters, compliance teams)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field
Nice to Have
- Experience in mortgage lending, financial services, or another regulated industry
- Hands-on experience with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, or similar)
- Background spanning both business and technical work
