About This Role

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in Finance to students from diverse academic backgrounds, utilizing various formats including face-to-face, remote, and online.

Responsibilities

  • Teach specific classes in the designated Finance discipline
  • Develop course syllabi and instructional materials
  • Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS
  • Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Business or master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Business coursework, specifically Finance
  • Qualifying degree(s) and coursework must be awarded by a regionally accredited institution
  • Ability to develop and adapt teaching and learning strategies to accommodate diverse community college students
  • Ability to use formative and summative assessment measure to enhance student learning
  • Experience with or ability to utilize proven teaching strategies that promote student success
  • Ability to use or incorporate emerging technologies and alternative delivery methods to enhance classroom instruction
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and oral/written communication skills
  • Available to teach a combination of day, evening, weekend, and online classes
  • Knowledge of major concepts, theories, and subject matter in Finance (Personal Finance, Securities Investment, Credit Union Operations, Corporate and/or Small Business Financial Management)
  • Must reside in the (DC, VA, MD) DMV area

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business or master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Business coursework, specifically Finance, from a regionally accredited institution

Nice to Have

  • Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, virtual-synchronous, and online formats
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment
  • Experience in teaching college-level business or business-related courses
  • Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency
  • Experience teaching in a classroom at a community college
  • Five or more years occupational experience in mid-level management

Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance.
