About This Role

Direct and manage the Activity Department at Arbor Hills, a skilled nursing facility, ensuring all activity programs meet federal, state, and local standards and cater to the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct facility activity programs
  • Assist in developing, administering, and coordinating department policies and procedures
  • Keep abreast of current federal and state regulations and professional standards of practice
  • Review department policies and procedures annually and recommend changes
  • Develop and implement policies for identifying medically related activity needs of residents
  • Participate in community planning related to facility interests and resident/family needs
  • Participate in discharge planning and the development/implementation of activity care plans and resident assessments
  • Perform administrative requirements including completing necessary forms and reports

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of college
  • Qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional licensed by the state
  • Two (2) years of experience in a social or recreation program within the last five years
  • One (1) year full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting
  • Qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant
  • Completed a training course approved by the state
  • Ability to make independent decisions
  • Knowledgeable of regulations governing activity services in nursing care facilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age-related needs of residents

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of college, degree preferred
  • 2+ years in a social or recreation program within the last five years, with at least one year full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting
