2nd Shift Supervisor

About This Role

The 2nd Shift Supervisor oversees the daily operation of their department, ensuring production goals are met while managing costs and profitability. This role is responsible for employee training, development, and adherence to company policies and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage the production operation of multiple departments across multiple shifts.
• Manage and motivate a group of employees for maximum productivity.
• Identify, research, and resolve various problems and opportunities.
• Evaluate individual performance and various programs.
• Coach and counsel employees.
• Manage activities consistent with all UFP policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
• Lead employees in continuous improvement and safety initiatives.
• Prepare reports and maintain records as required.
• Participate in the Safety Committee and ensure department compliance with established safety standards.
• Perform duties consistent with hazardous material handling procedures and practices if assigned to the Treating Department.

Requirements

• 3-5 years manufacturing experience
• 1-3 years managing people
• Strong communication skills
• Proficiency in operating Inside UFPI (internal system)
• Expertise in Precise Plant Quality Program
• Attention to detail
• Ability to maintain consistency and organization
• Commitment to safety and LOTO procedures
• Knowledge of continuous improvement (CI) principles (5S, TPM)
• Technical knowledge of machinery and equipment
• Strong understanding of preventative maintenance and standard work instructions
• Ability to provide daily feedback and conduct employee reviews
• Self-awareness for improvement

Qualifications

• Post high school education is required
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing and 1 to 3 years of experience managing people.
