This role involves strategic oversight and management of all maintenance and repair activities for the company's OTR heavy-duty truck and trailer fleet. The manager will ensure fleet safety, regulatory compliance, operational readiness, and cost efficiency, leading a multi-site team and managing budgets.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all maintenance and repair functions for the OTR fleet, ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant, and operational
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and programs to reduce downtime and extend fleet lifespan
- Ensure full compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, and other local/state/federal safety and environmental regulations
- Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance supervisors and technicians across multiple locations
- Manage the maintenance budget including forecasting, controlling expenses, and optimizing resource allocation
- Negotiate and manage vendor contracts for cost-effective procurement of parts and services
- Track, analyze, and report on key fleet performance metrics
- Oversee the maintenance and operational functionality of buildings, shops, yards, and fueling stations
- Evaluate and improve systems, procedures, and technologies related to fleet maintenance
- Travel regularly to multiple fleet locations to support and oversee maintenance activities
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance practices, DOT regulations, and fleet compliance standards
- Proven leadership and team development skills in a multi-site maintenance environment
- Strong budgeting and financial management experience
- Ability to analyze maintenance data and implement process improvements
- Proficiency with fleet management and CMMS software systems
- Ability to travel frequently (45-65%) to oversee multiple locations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in OTR fleet maintenance management.
