Workday Financials Consultant

About This Role

FinServ Consulting is seeking an experienced Workday Financials Consultant to lead high-impact projects for alternative asset management clients, focusing on system design, configuration, and finance transformation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage end-to-end Workday Financials implementations, enhancements, and post-go-live optimization engagements for alternative asset management clients
• Serve as a Workday Financials subject matter expert, owning functional configuration across core modules
• Perform hands-on system configuration work, including business process updates, security changes, and chart of accounts design
• Partner directly with client finance leadership to translate business requirements into scalable Workday Financials solutions
• Drive financial close modernization, operational process improvement, and automation through advanced Workday Financials capabilities
• Support integrations and downstream data flows between Workday and other platforms
• Lead testing cycles, deployment planning, and end-user training to ensure successful adoption
• Provide ongoing advisory support for Workday Financials roadmap planning, governance, and continuous improvement
• Balance client delivery responsibilities with internal firm-building initiatives like practice development and mentorship

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience, with significant focus on Workday Financials delivery
• Proven hands-on experience configuring and supporting Workday Financials modules in production environments
• Deep understanding of finance and accounting operations
• Ability to independently drive Workday solution design and execute configuration changes end-to-end
• Strong client-facing skills, with experience engaging directly with Controllers, CFOs, senior finance stakeholders and technology professionals
• Experience leading complex projects through the full Workday lifecycle (design, build, test, deploy, support)
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, MIS, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

• 5+ years of relevant experience, with significant focus on Workday Financials delivery

Nice to Have

• Workday Financials certifications or equivalent advanced expertise across key financial modules
• Experience supporting alternative asset managers (private equity firms, hedge funds, and credit fund organizations)
• Familiarity with GP and management company accounting workflows
• Experience with Workday industry specific solutions such as Allocations for Billable Costs (ABC), Accounting Center, Project Billing, Consolidation
• Strong data and reporting capabilities, including exposure to Extend, Prism Analytics, Adaptive, financial reporting automation, Workday Advanced Reporting and Composite Reporting
• Previous consulting experience in a fast-paced, project-driven client delivery environment
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and the development of executive-level documentation and presentation materials
