Weekend Relief Staff

About This Role

This position offers an opportunity to gain real-life experience supervising residents in a halfway house setting, working mainly weekends and evenings. You will maintain order and safety, monitor residents' activities, and ensure house rules are followed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order and safety in the house, often as the only staff member on duty
• Monitor residents' activities and whereabouts
• Remain in the house for the entire shift
• Ensure house rules, policies, and residents' commitments are followed
• Answer phones, take messages, and communicate with staff regarding residents' activities
• Monitor visitors
• Attend weekly staff meetings and Thursday evening meetings when necessary
• Supervise and interact with clients, listen to concerns, encourage positive behavior, and confront negative behavior
• Respond to rule or policy infractions by writing disciplinary C-notes and determining actions for minor C-notes
• Participate in special house meetings
• Record clients' activities in a log book and write other reports as necessary
• Ensure house cleanliness during shift
• Assign and monitor residents' house chores
• Check smoke alarms and conduct fire drills when needed
• Monitor residents' activities during emergencies to ensure safety and state code compliance

Requirements

• Educational credits in psychology, sociology, or social work
• Desire to work in a half-way house setting

Qualifications

• Educational credits in psychology, sociology, or social work

Nice to Have

• Group and/or individual counseling experience
• Experience dealing with halfway house clients
