WDI Construction Management Intern

About This Role

This internship, located in Orlando, FL, involves managing construction projects from small scopes to complex portfolios, ensuring delivery within budget, schedule, quality, and safety standards. The intern will coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to facilitate project success.

Responsibilities

• Handle an entire scope of a small project or a specific scope of work, such as guest rooms, improvement projects, graphics, FF&A, restaurant, or retail, within financial parameters and to high-quality standards
• Coordinate, schedule, and lead Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) via pre-pour/pre-cover inspections
• Familiarize with Construction Management (CM) roles, responsibilities, and standard practices
• Shadow employees to observe Structural and Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing (MEP) coordination, installation, and close-out procedures
• Determine need for critical, time-sensitive issues requiring multiple design team involvement, then schedule and facilitate meetings to resolve issues
• Work closely with various trades to gain a better understanding of design, comprehension, and implementation of Framing/MEP drawings
• Gain exposure to construction management responsibilities including document control, RFI, submittals, punch-list planning, and schedule tracking
• Make recommendations for product and people conflict resolution and problem solving on projects

Requirements

• Understanding of the Project Development process
• Understanding of scheduling, budgeting and quality control
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the Internet
• Valid U.S. driver’s license

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher attending an accredited college/university earning a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
