Water Pipe Repair Unit Leader

About This Role

Supervise and perform the installation and maintenance of the water supply distribution system for the City of Cleveland, including training workers and ensuring proper operation of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and perform work in the installation and maintenance of the water supply distribution system
• Supervise, instruct, and assist workers in water distribution system tasks
• Locate and install valves, service connection boxes, mains, and connections
• Inspect, test, and repair mains, lines, and connections
• Investigate complaints regarding water leaks and poor pressures
• Perform excavating and backfilling duties
• Operate air compressors, air hammers, and pumps
• Maintain tools and materials and complete daily reports and time cards
• Drive a truck as required

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 3 years of full-time paid experience in water pipe repair
• Valid State of Ohio Driver's License
• Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds
• Working knowledge of the water distribution system
• Completed OSHA Excavation Safety training
• Completed ODOT Traffic Control training
• Ability to work outside in all types of weather

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Equivalent of three years of full-time paid experience in the repair of water pipes

Nice to Have

• Valid State of Ohio Distribution License (I or II)
• Basic computer literacy
