Operate, monitor, control, test, and troubleshoot water supply, treatment plants, distribution systems, and storage facilities for the City of Temple. This role ensures water quality and system efficiency in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge and skills for essential operations of water treatment plants and facilities
- Operate and monitor treatment process using SCADA; adjust chemicals and treatment equipment
- Train Operator I/II and cover shifts as needed
- Perform laboratory duties, maintain instruments, monitor quality control, and collect/analyze samples
- Recommend process control adjustments to optimize treatment and maintenance efforts
- Enter sample analysis into daily log and ensure accuracy of all records/reports
- Meet daily with Lead Operator to report system performance
- Provide and accept plant status updates to preceding/on-coming operator team
- Respond to public complaints or concerns
- Assist with TCEQ inspections, construction, and maintenance projects
- Work in confined space and around hazardous chemicals
- Operate heavy equipment for facility maintenance, including lift and boom trucks
- Assist with sludge removal, transferring, and disposal
- Perform preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, and tanks; clean and service plant areas
- Calibrate and perform maintenance on mechanical, analytical, instrumentation, and telemetry equipment
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Class “A” Surface Water Licensing from TCEQ
