Water Modeling & Planning Squad Leader

About This Role

Lead a team of engineers and project managers in water, wastewater, stormwater, and reuse modeling and planning projects across Texas. Provide technical guidance, daily oversight, and leadership to ensure project excellence and staff development.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of engineers and project managers
• Provide technical guidance and review for modeling, planning, data analysis, and infrastructure evaluation projects
• Monitor workload and assign project responsibilities for appropriate staff utilization
• Support the development of scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans for planning-phase projects
• Ensure high-quality and timely delivery of water, wastewater, and stormwater master plans, hydraulic models, and design support studies
• Facilitate knowledge sharing, mentoring, and technical training opportunities for team members
• Coordinate across departments to support seamless transitions from planning to design phases
• Contribute to the preparation and quality control of proposals and planning deliverables
• Review project metrics (budget, schedule, performance) and provide updates to leadership
• Participate in internal quality assurance reviews and support the implementation of best practices
• Identify resource needs, support recruitment or onboarding of new team members, and support overall team development

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or a related field from an ABET-accredited program
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
• 8+ years of experience in water/wastewater/stormwater infrastructure planning
• 2+ years in master planning or hydraulic modeling
• 2+ years of experience mentoring and/or supervising engineering or technical staff
• Strong understanding of water distribution, wastewater collection, and stormwater system planning and modeling
• Familiarity with hydraulic modeling software (e.g., Autodesk InfoWater Pro, InfoWorks ICM, Bentley WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS)
• Working knowledge of infrastructure design and capital improvement planning principles

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or a related field of study from an ABET-accredited program
• 8+ years of experience in water/wastewater/stormwater infrastructure planning, including at least 2 years in master planning or hydraulic modeling, and at least 2 years of experience mentoring and/or supervising engineering or technical staff.
