Water Lead Worker

About This Role

Lead and coordinate field work for the City of Fullerton's Public Works team, focusing on water construction, maintenance, and repair. This role involves hands-on participation, overseeing preventative maintenance programs, and mentoring team members to ensure the reliability of the City’s water infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and participate in water system maintenance, repair, and construction
• Lead the system valve and fire hydrant preventative maintenance program, including scheduling, recordkeeping, and field work
• Sign off on work orders after verifying quality, safety, and accuracy
• Work closely with crews to keep multiple projects on track and meet daily goals
• Train and assist team members in proper maintenance methods and safe work practices
• Track completed work, material, and equipment through the City's work management software

Requirements

• 3+ years experience in water/sewer construction, maintenance, and repair
• Expertise in leading or coordinating field work
• Ability to coordinate multiple active projects
• Strong teamwork, communication, and organization skills
• Solid understanding of water distribution systems, preventative maintenance practices, and system safety standards
• Valid Grade 3 Water Distribution Operator Certification issued by the State of California Water Board
• Valid Class A California driver's license

Qualifications

• High school graduation, plus coursework, training, and certifications related to water systems, water distribution, and/or utility maintenance
• 3+ years of full-time work experience in water/sewer construction, maintenance, and repair, including expertise in leading or coordinating field work
