This volunteer position assists library staff and patrons with various tasks, providing support across different library functions and programs.
Responsibilities
- Assist library staff and patrons with a variety of jobs and tasks
- Participate in or lead Book Discussion Groups
- Teach programs
- Assist with Children Programs
- Support English Literacy initiatives
- Perform shelving duties
- Help with Special Events
- Process materials
- Perform dusting and cleaning tasks
- Act as a Program Presenter
Requirements
- 18 years of age or older
- Consent and pass a criminal background check
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (both verbally and in writing)
- Convey a positive, friendly attitude
- Work pleasantly with staff, patrons, and other volunteers
- Understand and follow written and verbal instructions, policies, and procedures
- Ability to lift and move objects as needed
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of City and department procedures, policies, and guidelines
- Ability to suggest topics and speakers within the timeframe set by the library
