This executive role focuses on leveraging data, analytics, and AI to drive business value, foster a data-driven culture, and ensure effective governance and utilization of data assets for OU Health. The VP will create and manage the data and analytics strategy and operating model, building partnerships to ensure data is managed as a business asset.
Responsibilities
- Define data, analytics, and AI strategy, including vision, drivers, and outcomes in collaboration with leadership
- Institute an operating model for data, analytics, and AI consistent with required capabilities and competencies
- Build partnerships with executive leadership and board members to ensure data is managed as a business asset and is AI-ready
- Maintain authority and accountability for data assets, analytics for decision making, and AI solutions
- Oversee delivery models, methods, and practices for creation of data, analytics, and AI products
- Evolve technology capabilities for the D&A platform in collaboration with the CIO
- Establish and maintain trust in AI-ready data assets by instituting governance mechanisms for data
- Ensure the organization's data practices are compliant with regulatory requirements and data protection laws
- Oversee the ethical and responsible use of data and algorithms for AI, analytics, and automated decision making
- Own the development of a data-driven culture and related competencies across the enterprise
- Lead data-driven innovation for the enterprise, including investigation, adoption, and exploitation of artificial intelligence
- Provide AI-ready data, supporting graph analysis, prompt engineering, machine learning, and natural language processing
- Lead research, strategy creation, and development of new AI and data and analytics products or services
- Drive and oversee major business changes to deliver enterprise value by managing major data-driven change initiatives
- Oversee the development, publishing, and maintenance of the organization’s data and analytics architecture and platforms
- Define job roles, recruit candidates, and manage a team of data and analytics leaders and senior information management professionals
- Manage to their budget
Requirements
- Master's Degree
- 7-10 years progressive leadership experience
- 6+ years of data & analytics, AI, and progressive leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams, multidisciplinary environments, and enterprise-wide data and analytics programs
- Experience in integrating complex, cross-corporate processes and information strategies and/or designing strategic metrics and scorecards
- Strong knowledge in healthcare technology in hospital & specialty provider space preferred
- Acumen for strategic business and technology planning and execution
- Ability to describe business use cases/outcomes, data sources and management concepts, and analytical approaches/options
- Ability to translate among the languages used by executive, business, IT, and key stakeholders
- Understands data structures [structured, semistructured, and unstructured] data integration (ETL), metadata, and AI concepts
- Strong background in data & analytics with Hospital / Healthcare provider environments preferred
- Knowledge of data fabric, data mesh, data warehouse, data lake, or data hub
- Ability to identify and manage the most important business information assets
- Entrepreneurial / Intrapreneurial attitude
- Background in identifying, selecting, and implementing emerging and new technologies
- Understands Software, diagnostic, descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics approaches, along with data engineering practices, concepts, and theories
- Experience leading data governance and data literacy programs
- Demonstrated knowledge of information systems/tools, related software and data management, enterprise content management, and record-keeping policies and practices
- Ability to organize and lead a data and analytics center of excellence (D&A hub)
- Understands business concepts, practices, and business domain language
- Strong interpersonal skills, executive presence, and broad thinking
- Experience in recognizing the impact of technical / digital approaches on strategic business decisions
- Demonstrated understanding of business constraints and ability to convey complex strategic concepts concisely
- Capacity to deliver on deadlines while contributing to various stakeholders and projects
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team and thrive in ambiguity
- Exceptional emotional intelligence
- Conversant in user experience research and design activities
- Excellent verbal & written communications skills
Qualifications
- Master's Degree required
- 7 to 10 years progressive leadership experience, with 6+ years in data & analytics and AI, leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide data and analytics programs
Nice to Have
- Degree in computer science, business administration, STEM, data science, information systems, or related field
- Academic qualification or professional training and experience in legal and regulatory areas
- Previous healthcare experience
