Utility Locator

About This Role

This role involves safely and efficiently locating underground utilities for various services, ensuring public safety and infrastructure protection. You will work independently in the field, using company-provided tools and vehicle to accurately mark utility locations and complete necessary documentation.

Responsibilities

• Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate underground utilities, including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems
• Thoroughly search for underground utilities in a designated area
• Accurately mark the location of utilities
• Complete necessary documentation for each locate
• Photograph each locate site

Requirements

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Computer proficiency
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed
• Able to pass a drug screen (this is a safety-sensitive position)
• Safe driving record
• Able to work in a confined space
• Able to walk, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs
• Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities
• Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, as well as maps and prints
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners

Qualifications

• No prior locating experience needed
