Utility Excavator Operator

About This Role

Operate an excavator for utility crews specializing in earthwork, pipelines, and underground utilities. The role involves ensuring proper excavation, backfilling, and maintaining equipment to support commercial and industrial site development projects.

Responsibilities

• Ensure work is excavated to the proper requirements, depth/grade
• Backfill pipe
• Comply with all company and site-specific policies and procedures
• Safe and efficient operation of equipment
• Perform routine inspections, safety walk-arounds, and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment
• Maintain equipment in good operating condition, reporting and logging maintenance requirements or concerns
• Complete required paperwork, reporting, and other documentation as required

Requirements

• Experience operating excavators on a utility crew
• Ability to climb in and out of equipment unassisted
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
• Ability to frequently lift 20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
• Willingness and ability to travel to other project sites throughout the Southeastern U.S.
• Ability to have a flexible work schedule, including working overtime and weekends
