About This Role

Supervise and coordinate Urban Rehabilitation Inspectors, oversee property inspections, and guide property owners to ensure compliance with rehabilitation program standards and City/State codes, contributing to community revitalization.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate inspectors to ensure work meets codes and rehabilitation standards
  • Inspect properties and advise owners on repairs and improvements
  • Check and verify rehabilitation work and contractor invoices
  • Handle complex cases and resolve disputes between homeowners, contractors, and staff
  • Coordinate with other programs and agencies to ensure compliance

Requirements

  • Ability to understand materials, work practices, and processes used in construction and maintenance
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, codes, ordinances, and standards relating to construction
  • Ability to apply building and related codes and ordinances of the City and County of Honolulu
  • Ability to detect property deficiencies and make sound recommendations for improvement
  • Ability to interpret and apply plans and specifications, building and related codes
  • Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations pertaining to construction and rehabilitation

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from high school
  • 3 years of experience in inspecting or supervising building construction work
