Upper School Spanish Instructor

About This Role

Teach Spanish to high school students (Grades 9-12) in an innovative, project-based learning environment. This role focuses on promoting global citizenship through world language instruction and requires fostering a nurturing and inclusive classroom experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide meaningful instruction in Grades 9-12 Spanish using research-based and innovative teaching methods
• Create well-planned nine-week units focusing on problem-solving and application
• Differentiate lessons to match the needs of each student in the classroom
• Connect real-world learning with world language, in instruction and practice
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of student performance and progress, and communicate with families
• Nurture the social and emotional needs of each student
• Maintain an organized, inviting, and student-centered learning environment
• Participate in duties such as lunch, enrichment, and carpool
• Demonstrate a team-oriented spirit and commitment to student learning and social-emotional needs

Requirements

• Bachelors’ Degree in Education, Spanish, Linguistics, World Languages or related field
• Cultural background/experience in Latin/Hispanic contexts
• Teaching experience
• Proficiency with technological tools and platforms
• Culturally proficient & equity literate
• Ability to cultivate respectful and affirming environments
• Track record of giving high-quality, Responsive Feedback
• Understanding of Competency-Based Assessment/Mastery Approach to Learning

Qualifications

• Bachelors’ Degree in Education, Spanish, Linguistics, World Languages or related field
• Teaching experience required
