Underwriting Specialist, Middle Market Solutions

About This Role

The Underwriting Specialist drives profitable growth by evaluating and underwriting new and renewal accounts for Middle Market Solutions. This role involves collaborating with producers to negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions, managing capacity, and ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets
• Negotiate price and terms and conditions with producers
• Proactively manage capacity
• Underwrite and evaluate Natural Catastrophe Accumulation
• Underwrite in line with Line of Business governance framework
• Ensure contract certainty is achieved on all accounts at time of inception
• Ensure accurate policy documentation issued to producers
• Proactively support completion of policy administration and credit control processes
• Contribute to development and execution of regional Underwriting strategy
• Train, develop and coach less experienced staff

Requirements

• 3+ years direct experience in underwriting profitable business
• Specialized expert understanding of sub-Line of Business products and portfolio
• Recognized relationships with brokers at peer group level
• Specialized understanding of regional/local Line of Business insurance markets and competitor landscape

Qualifications

• Preferably a degree in Economics, Finance, Insurance Management, or Business Administration
• A minimum of 3+ years of direct experience in underwriting profitable business

• Degree in Economics, Finance, Insurance Management, or Business Administration
• Professional insurance qualification (e.g., CPCU)
