Underwriting Intern

About This Role

Participate in an intensive 10-week summer commercial underwriting internship program, gaining hands-on experience in underwriting and insurance processes.

Responsibilities

• Engage fully in the 10-week comprehensive learning program to understand underwriting and insurance deeply
• Gain hands-on experience as an Underwriter through projects and assignments
• Apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios within the insurance industry
• Pull requested loss runs for accounts
• Assist with the submission intake process
• Complete non-monetary endorsements such as mailing address changes
• Assist team members with tasks like entering risk information into rater for quoting purposes
• Shadow team members in every department to learn the business and workflow

Requirements

• Demonstrated passion for risk management and insurance
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Economics, Liberal Arts or a related field
• Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with various levels of the organization
• Capacity to work independently while fostering a positive group dynamic
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Demonstrated leadership potential through academic, extracurricular activities, internships, or volunteer work
• Ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams and adapt to new situations quickly
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Economics, Liberal Arts or a related field

• Previous internship or work experience in a related field
• Coursework or projects involving data analysis, business strategy, or technology
• Interest in pursuing a long-term career with the organization
• Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau, Python)
