This role is for a creative storyteller who will assume the critical role of a Producer in the newsroom, driving local news coverage, determining essential stories, and collaborating with colleagues to deliver high-quality, unbiased content across multiple platforms for Spectrum News, part of Charter Communications.
Responsibilities
- Lead the charge on driving local news coverage
- Determine the most important stories to air
- Collaborate with colleagues to tell impactful news stories
- Make decisions about what news to air and when
- Keep the audience informed through various distribution channels
- Develop an in-depth understanding of local and breaking news
- Create newscasts that attract and hold audiences' attentions
- Transform stories from a simple pitch into inspiring content
Requirements
- Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship
- 2+ years experience in television news
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience
- Knowledge of social media platforms
- Basic editing skills (Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro)
- Go-getter personality
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Ability to travel to discover important stories and interact with the community
- Ability to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience
- 2+ years experience in television news
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge of general office computer software
- Working knowledge of newsroom software
- Working knowledge of basic non-linear editing systems
