Turf Intern - Lodge Golf Maintenance

About This Role

This role will operate a variety of power-driven and hand-held golf course maintenance equipment, gaining exposure to most aspects of golf maintenance operations. The intern will help meet or exceed golf course grooming standards while promoting Sea Island's hospitality legacy.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a variety of power-driven and hand-held golf course maintenance equipment
• Properly operate equipment such as sand pros, tractor-lawn mowers, greens mowers
• Mow greens and tee boxes in their respective areas
• Change water, soap, and towels for each ball washer
• Move tee markers and cups when necessary and replace flags
• Report any insect or animal damage to the supervisor
• Maintain the overall condition of assigned holes
• Observe and follow all requirements for safe equipment operation, including personal protective equipment
• Check machinery before and after use, cleaning thoroughly to prevent corrosion
• Report any malfunction or physical damage to machinery to the mechanic or supervisor immediately

Requirements

• Enrollment in a horticulture/landscaping/turf program
• Golf maintenance or landscape experience
• Ability to operate various power-driven cutting and grooming machines (riding and walk-behind), motorized carts, and hand tools
• Ability to work with various turf maintenance chemicals
• Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Qualifications

• College or secondary education program dealing with horticulture/landscaping/turf
