About This Role

Enforce Tribal, Federal, and State laws and ensure community safety as a Tribal Police Officer. This role involves responding to calls, conducting investigations, and making arrests within the Tribal community while respecting culture and tradition.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol Tribal lands and properties
  • Respond to calls, complaints, and emergencies
  • Conduct investigations and prepare reports
  • Make arrests and serve warrants
  • Testify in Tribal, State, and Federal Court
  • Work independently and remain calm in high-stress situations
  • Maintain proficiency with issued firearms and less-lethal weapons

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of employment experience as a certified police officer
  • Alabama Peace Officer Commission certification for law enforcement
  • Ability to obtain BIA Special Law Enforcement Commission (S.L.E.C.) within twelve (12) months
  • Good physical condition (sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, twist for extended periods; climb, lift, hold, and move objects weighing a minimum of fifty (50) pounds)
  • Ability to testify in Tribal, Federal, and State Court (no Giglio restrictions)
  • Meet age, mental, physical, and medical requirements by Alabama Police Officers Standards and Training Commission and Bureau of Indian Affairs
  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours
  • Successfully pass required criminal and character background check

Qualifications
