The Triage Nurse (RN or LPN) at Effingham Obstetrics & Gynecology is responsible for assessing patients, determining the severity of their conditions, and prioritizing care based on the urgency of symptoms. This role involves performing telephone triage, patient education, and coordinating tests and procedures to support the growing team.
Responsibilities
- Perform telephone triage, patient education, and handle physician and pharmacy calls.
- Complete paperwork such as refilling medication and ordering lab tests or x-rays.
- Assess patients to determine priority and refer for emergency care when needed.
- Counsel patients on lifestyle modifications, medication regimens, side effects, and interactions.
- Communicate follow-up appointments, ancillary/pre-operative testing, and scheduling needs to patients and office coordinators.
- Coordinate ordering of tests/procedures with other clinical staff.
- Respond to patient questions and concerns as a liaison between the physician and patient.
- Develop office protocols and training documents.
- Report all test results to the patient as directed by the physician.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- State of Illinois Nursing License
- BLS certification
- At least one year of working experience as a nurse
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required
- At least one year of working experience as a nurse required

- OB/GYN experience
