HGL is seeking an experienced full-time, permanent Treatment Plant Operator to operate and maintain the Groundwater Extraction and Treatment System (GETS) at the Former Blaine NAD project site in Hastings, Nebraska. This role involves monitoring treatment plant systems, performing maintenance, and ensuring overall site health and safety.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the Groundwater Extraction and Treatment System (GETS), aiming for high uptime.
- Perform surface and groundwater sampling activities for the GETS and assist in annual Remedial Action Monitoring.
- Perform basic preventive maintenance inspections and service on the GETS treatment plant, buildings, and equipment.
- Perform basic weed control, mowing, and interior and exterior maintenance of treatment buildings and the office trailer.
- Perform weed control, mowing, inspections, filling rodent holes, sampling, and maintaining the leachate discharge system at the OU4 Soil Repository.
- Conduct snow removal using various methods including snow blower and shovel.
- Work out of and maintain and clean the office trailer.
- Maintain overall project health and safety for personnel and equipment on site.
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair equipment
- Ability to follow instructions, both verbally and written, covering all critical Site work activities and standard operating procedures (SOP's)
- Basic working knowledge of computers and Windows software
- Strong team member skills and proven ability to work with minimal supervision
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience, with an emphasis on industrial, mechanical, and electrical aptitude.
Nice to Have
- Water and wastewater treatment certification by the State of Nebraska or ability to obtain them
- Basic knowledge of chemical handling and safety
