Travel Respiratory Therapist

About This Role

The Travel Respiratory Therapist will provide respiratory care to patients, including evaluating respiratory needs, operating and maintaining equipment, and accurately charting patient responses. This role involves assessing ventilator patients, analyzing blood gases, and ensuring compliance with sleep therapy documentation.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, wash, rinse, dry, and package respiratory equipment
• Effectively evaluate the results of patient respiratory care delivered per care plans
• Function as a role model in Respiratory Care demonstrating competency in clinical judgment, select technical skills, and appropriate knowledge base
• Prepare and test respiratory therapy equipment for proper and safe operation and check equipment in use and on units for proper operations and routine service
• Report malfunctioning equipment to manager
• Process and maintain respiratory equipment
• Accurately chart on the respiratory flow sheets in the EMR and on the care plans
• Charge accurately in the EMR
• Complete assessments on ventilator patients and all other patients on respiratory care services
• Recommend timely interventions and the need for further treatment or referral in the participant's respiratory care regimen
• Record procedures, patient response and compliance with sleep therapy documentation requirements and consult with Respiratory Care Practitioner any adverse effects and compliance with equipment
• Relay same information in writing to physician
• Evaluate patients for routine respiratory care therapy on the inpatient units and Emergency room
• Obtain and analyze blood gases: Arterial, Venous and Capillary
• Assist cleaning respiratory care related equipment
• Assist with stocking respiratory care related supplies on the inpatient care units

Requirements

• Solid understanding of all aspects of Respiratory care
• Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy
• BLS (American Heart Association) certification
• Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
• NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy
