This role involves overseeing the efficient and effective transportation, storage, and distribution of goods, ensuring timely delivery and cost optimization. The Transportation Manager will lead a logistics team, manage DOT compliance for CDL drivers, and collaborate with other departments to enhance supply chain operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement logistics strategies and plans
- Optimize transportation routes and warehouse layouts to minimize costs and improve efficiency
- Monitor and forecast logistics costs and prepare budgets
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the logistics team
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products
- Negotiate contracts and rates with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability and quality of service
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations regarding transportation and storage
- Develop and implement safety procedures to protect employees and goods
- Implement and maintain logistics software systems to streamline operations
- Ensure all transportation operations adhere to DOT regulations and standards
- Oversee vehicle maintenance and inspection programs
- Recruit, train, and supervise logistics personnel
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
- 4+ years of relevant logistics experience in a related industry
- 1-3 years of experience in supervision of direct reports
- Strong understanding of logistics and inventory management software
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
- 4+ years of relevant logistics experience in a related industry and 1-3 years of supervision experience
Nice to Have
- Professional certification such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)
