Transportation Engineering Summer Intern

About This Role

This Transportation Engineering Intern role offers hands-on experience supporting roadway and traffic engineering projects within a leading global engineering and consulting firm. You will contribute to active transportation projects, learn how engineering concepts are applied, and be mentored by professional engineers.

Responsibilities

• Support roadway and traffic engineering design tasks from concept through final design
• Assist with preparation of roadway layouts, exhibits, and plan elements using AutoCAD
• Help develop traffic control concepts and basic design details
• Participate in data collection efforts such as traffic counts, field measurements, and site visits
• Assist with quantity takeoffs and basic cost estimating tasks
• Prepare figures, exhibits, and supporting documentation for reports and plan sets
• Coordinate with project team members to meet quality standards and deadlines
• Learn and apply federal, state, and local transportation design standards

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering
• Developing proficiency with AutoCAD
• Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new software tools
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering
• Prior coursework or internship experience related to transportation or roadway design a plus

• Civil 3D exposure
• Prior coursework or internship experience related to transportation or roadway design
• Interest in traffic engineering, roadway design, or multimodal transportation
