About This Role

Teach five mathematics courses per semester, including online and dual-credit classes, demonstrating strong instructional skills and continuous efforts to advance teaching quality.

Responsibilities

  • Teach five (5) courses per regular semester, including online and/or dual-credit/early college classes
  • Teach assigned courses in various times and locations in response to institutional need
  • Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction
  • Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist diverse students
  • Evaluate students to measure progress toward course outcomes
  • Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials
  • Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus
  • Maintain a classroom environment that promotes teaching and learning
  • Hold scheduled, posted virtual or physical office hours and encourage conferences with students
  • Assist in academic advising of declared majors
  • Assist with marketing programs and recruiting students
  • Review, evaluate, and revise assessments of program and institutional student learning outcomes
  • Participate in the self-evaluation process and establish personal and professional development goals
  • Maintain professional standards of competence in the discipline and teaching methodology
  • Serve on committees and accept special assignments occasionally
  • Participate in scheduled institutional activities such as convocation and graduation ceremonies
  • Participate in department, divisional, and College meetings
  • Participate in College-related activities such as registration and faculty selection
  • Participate in activities required to maintain program and College accreditation standards
  • Participate in the College planning process by assisting in goal formulation and budget priorities
  • Meet professional assignments in accordance with the College calendar
  • Participate in business and/or community activities that promote the mission of the College

Requirements

  • Ability to plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline
  • Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles
  • Successful college teaching experience
  • Successful experience utilizing instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other appropriate media in instruction
  • Master’s degree in Mathematics (or higher) OR Master’s degree in Math related field (or higher) with minimum 18 graduate hours in Mathematics

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics (or higher) OR a Master’s degree in a Math related field (or higher) with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Mathematics
  • Successful college teaching experience is required.

Nice to Have

  • Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds
  • Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success
  • Knowledge of a learning college and/or knowledge of learning communities
  • Experience teaching college level online courses and/or documented successful training in a college online learning management system (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas)
